Federico Cuevas Ruiz,

Horn

Federico was born in 1994 in Ibiza. He began his french horn studies at the age of 7 at the Music School of Ibiza, with Professor Damián Boluda.

At the age of 11 he started playing in the  Ibiza Municipal Band and at 16 he played in the Ibiza City Symphony Orchestra for the first time.

In 2012, he began his Bachelor´s degree at the "Real Conservartorio Superior de Música de Madrid" with Professor Elies Moncholí. During his years in Madrid, he regularly received private lessons from the horn soloist of the “Orquesta Sinfónica de Radio Televisión Española”, José Chanzá.

After obtaining the highest grade in his final graduation exam, in 2018, he was accepted to the "Conservatorium van Amsterdam" to study his Master's degree in historical horns with Professor Teunis van der Zwart. There, he focused on studying and playing the music of the eighteenth century.

Graduating in 2018, he received an offer to collaborate with the "Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century" on a tour in Poland and recording a CD (“The Haunted Manor” by Stanisław Moniuszko).

Combining modern french horn with baroque horn, classical horn and romantic horn, he collaborates with orchestras such as “The Bach Choir & Orchestra of the Netherlands”, “Jonge Strijkers & Blazers Nederland”, “Het Nationale Theater”, “Het Nationaal Jeugdorkest Nederland”, “Universität Mozarteum Salzburg Barockorchester ”,“ Das Neue Mannheimer Orchester ” among others.

He is also part of the chamber music group "Iberia Brass Quintet", which has given recitals in different places in Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands.
